Health & Safety Project Leader Our client is a specialist data centre contractor providing full turnkey solutions to clients across Europe. An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Health & Safety Project Leader to join the project team on a major data centre development in Finland. This is a site-based role.
• Lead the implementation of the project’s Health & Safety Management System
• Develop, implement and manage construction stage health & safety plans
• Produce detailed health & safety reports and analyse key performance metrics
• Provide regular health & safety updates to senior management and project leadership
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant environmental, health & safety legislation and statutory requirements
• Lead the implementation of project-specific environmental and health & safety plans
• Oversee and support the development and review of method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action and permits to work
• Monitor and enforce compliance with project execution plans
• Drive best-in-class safety culture and standards across the project
• Manage ongoing COSHH assessments and the control of hazardous substances
• Ensure safety interventions are completed, recorded and closed out
• Carry out regular site audits and inspections, documenting findings and following up on corrective actions
• Maintain accurate records of statutory inspections and associated documentation
• Take a proactive, leadership-driven approach to environmental, health & safety requirements
• Ensure subcontractors comply with project and company EHS policies and procedures
• Coordinate, manage and maintain site inductions, training and toolbox talks
• Ensure appropriate PPE is available, compliant and effectively managed on site
• Lead or support accident investigations and ensure timely reporting to the project management team
• NEBOSH qualification is essential
• Previous experience on data centre construction projects is essential
• Third-level qualification in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related discipline
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading EHS on large-scale construction projects
• Strong knowledge of current environmental, health & safety legislation
• Flexible approach to working patterns when required
• Ability to manage all environmental, health & safety matters on site effectively
• Strong communication and IT skills, with experience maintaining reports and documentation
• Ability to work independently with strong leadership, interpersonal and organisational skills
• Negotiable basic salary (circa €110k - €120k)
